This consultation response sets out DCC's position on Ofgem's proposals on the contents of a new Remuneration Policy to apply from 1 April 2027. In the new smart meter communication licence, DCC2 must prepare and submit to Ofgem a draft Remuneration Policy by 14 October 2026 which focuses on four key "pillars" of system performance, customer engagement, business plan quality and business plan delivery.
Our response advises Ofgem that we will be avoiding changes that could be construed as affecting colleagues' employment rights, that the measures need to be controllable to be effective, that enabling measures must be allowed, and that we must avoid a two-tier remuneration regime. We also argue that the rules are too onerous.
