Support and contacts
What is the difference between DCC and Residual DCC1?
From 2 November 2026, all operational DCC services are provided by DCC 2 Ltd, which trades as DCC (or Smart DCC).
Residual DCC1 stopped providing operational smart metering services on 1 November 2026. Its purpose is solely to complete the remaining regulatory, financial, governance and reporting obligations associated with the first Smart Metering Communications Licence before that Licence expires on 22 September 2027.
Has anything changed for DCC customers?
No. DCC services continue to operate as normal, delivered by DCC 2 Ltd under the new DCC licence (Smart Meter Communication Licence 2). Customers can continue to access services and engage with DCC through the usual channels.
How long will Residual DCC1 remain in place?
Residual DCC1 will remain in place until the expiry of the first Smart Metering Communications Licence on 22 September 2027. Its role is to complete the remaining obligations associated with that licence before those responsibilities conclude in accordance with the relevant regulatory requirements.
