Apprenticeships

We believe in making Britain more connected, so we can all lead smarter greener lives. We’re the digital core of the energy system, helping Britain move to a low carbon economy.

Applications for our 2020 Degree Apprentice Scheme are now closed.

The Data Communications Company (DCC) has built and maintains the secure national infrastructure that underpins the roll-out of smart meters across Britain. This wireless network connects smart meters to energy suppliers, network operators, and other authorised service users. It is maintained to very high-security standards, as endorsed by the National Cyber Security Centre.

Based in our Manchester office, home to our state-of-the-art test facilities, we’re looking for the brightest and the best digital and technology thinkers, to bring fresh ideas to our business.

We’re a relatively young company, with a very mature assignment. What we do, will enable innovators to provide smart solutions for the future. It’s never been done anywhere in the world. We’re definitely game-changers in that respect.

We’re probably one of the best-kept secrets of the 2010s. We say that with all confidence because what we’re doing will impact every single home in Britain. Who else gets to say that?

You’ll start in September 2020 and be with us for four years. Study will be alongside full-time work and you’ll have the support of your manager, your teammates, and a mentor too. Our goal is to help you succeed and be the best you can be. At DCC, we believe that:

  • Everyone has something to add
  • Everyone is free to be themselves
  • Everyone feels like they belong.

What we’re looking for

We’re a vibrant, fast-paced business. We not only take pride in our work, but we take care of ourselves and each other too. Wellbeing is important to us, but so is innovation and fresh thinking.

We want passionate people, willing to learn, ready to grow, and not shy of sharing new ideas. You’ll be a team player, but also have the know-how to get on with work independently when required.

We’re building a culture of OneDCC, where everyone that works here feels as though they belong. You’ll be respectful of your colleagues, and open to learning more about the differences that make us all unique, whilst feeling comfortable being yourself too.
