Why work for us?

Maintaining an inclusive culture of mutual respect, innovation and high performance is really important in making Smart DCC a great place to work.

All our colleagues have access to the support they need to be the best they can be. Therefore, we ensure everyone has access to training, and all DCC colleagues should have a personal development plan. As well as opportunities for personal growth we offer a wide-range of development opportunities to support out people.

At DCC we want to be an exemplar for diversity and inclusion. It's a big ambition and therefore a big ask on everyone that works here. Colleagues should be free to bring their whole selves and their best selves to work, knowing their contribution is valued.

All permanent DCC employees enjoy free membership to Headspace, a popular mindfulness app that allows users to enjoy mindful moments on the go, at home or on a break.

We were finalists for the 'great workplace' accolade by the Employee Engagement Alliance for our approach to wellbeing. We make sure we take care of you and support you in taking care of yourself. Across our different sites you'll be able to attend local events about wellbeing, such as (but certainly not limited to!) meditation sessions and walking clubs. We've got trained Mental Health First Aiders on each site, just in case you need to speak to someone.

  

Social Committee

We work hard, but we have fun too! The social committee at each of our sites look after the organised fun - whether it be group outings, festive fundraiser or all-hands social events.

Working from home

Here at Smart DCC, we are flexible with our colleagues by allowing them to work from home one day a week, if your role permits it.

Dress for your day

We allow employees to dress for their day. This is because we believe that we work best when we feel comfortable in what we're wearing.

Capita Choice

For permanent colleagues, you'll have access to a benefits programme called Capita Choice. There's a lot on offer, from health and lifestyle benefits, to retail discounts. Each year you'll have the chance to choose the benefits that suit your needs. Other benefits include the cycle-to-work scheme and season ticket loans, which help you to find the most cost-effective way of travelling. You'll also get 25 days annual leave to recharge your batteries, with the option to purchase five more within the Capita Choice benefits scheme. 

  

 You can access and manage your benefits through the My Benefits tab (once you have started) as well as finding out full details about these benefits:

  • Pension- Initial 1% contribution from yourself and matched by Capita at 1%. After 12 months service, you will be eligible to go to Tier 1 and increase contributions up to 5% which will be matched by the business.
  • Season Ticket Travel Loan Entitlement to a Season Ticket travel loan for rail travel
  • Childcare vouchers: This salary sacrifice scheme will save you money on your childcare costs
  • Cycle to work: Allows Capita to loan bikes and cyclists' safety equipment to employees through salary sacrifice as a tax efficient benefit for the use of cycling to and from work.
  • Health screening: A health screen involves a non-invasive consultation with Screenetics and a number of tests which will help you look after your future health
  • Holiday and Holiday purchase: Gives you the opportunity to increase your standard annual leave entitlement. Holiday starts at 25 days,
  • Medical cash plan: Medical cash plans are designed to help people with the cost of everyday healthcare and give cash back for medical, optical and dental expenses
  • Dental Plan: Dental cover starting from £6.50 per month
  • Additional life insurance: Pays out a tax-free lump sum if you die before retirement whilst employed in addition to any existing contractual Life Assurance entitlement that you have
  • Critical illness insurance: Pays out a tax-free lump sum if you are diagnosed with one of the defined illnesses, such as heart attack, stroke and cancer
  • Group income protection: Provides you with a continuing income if you are unable to work due to illness or injury for more than 26 weeks.
  • Retail & leisure discounts: Access to a range of discounts administered through Log Buy
  • Discounted gym membership: Also through Log Buy you can access Incorpore, an exclusive network of over 2,000 gyms, offering the lowest corporate rates available. Gyms include Fitness First, David Lloyd and Virgin Active.
  • Mobile phone discounts: Discounts for you, and up to 5 of your friends and family with O2
  • Vision Express discounts: Exclusive eye care discounts for yourself and your family through Vision Select
  • Wisdom: Purchase an annual discount card for 20% off all dental treatment through a network of specified dentists.
  • Vauxhall Partners Programme: take advantage of exclusive discounts from Vauxhall through their partners programme
  • RAC discount: We’ve teamed up with the RAC, so as a Capita employee you can get 50% off single personal based RAC breakdown cover. With your discount, Roadside cover starts at just £29 a year. And, depending on which level of cover you choose, you could save as much as £99.25
